The Bachelor of Commerce in Operations Management is a professional qualification that enables students who have successfully completed the National Senior Certificate or an equivalent qualification (NQF Level 4) to pursue a career in operations management. This degree aims to equip students with both theoretical and practical knowledge to manage effectively and efficiently within an operational environment, and to contribute meaningfully up to a strategic level within an organisation. The Bachelor of Commerce in Operations Management is a NQF Level 7 qualification consisting of 360 credits. The purpose and outcomes of the qualification are to provide students with a solid foundation in the core principles and practices of operations management. Therefore, students will be able to display the competence to plan, implement, and evaluate operational strategies in a business environment with confidence. In addition, the degree will enable graduates to acquire in-depth knowledge of operations management theory, relevant legislation, strategic thinking, problem-solving, process improvement, quality assurance, and logistics—all aligned with the unique challenges and opportunities within the South African and global contexts. The Bachelor of Commerce in Operations Management is designed to align with the Department of Higher Education and Training’s list of Occupations in High Demand, ensuring that graduates are equipped with the necessary skills to meet industry needs. Through Lyceum’s assessment policy, procedures, and the integration of independent research, students are encouraged to demonstrate their ability to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world business contexts. Thus, this qualification equips, enables, and empowers students with the requisite competencies to succeed in diverse operational management roles across sectors. This qualification focuses on developing essential knowledge and applied skills in areas such as supply chain management, production planning, resource management, and performance improvement.
