Lyceum College wishes to address misleading information currently circulating on social media platforms, which falsely claims that Lyceum College has been deregistered.
Minister’s Official Statement
On 13 December 2025, the Minister of Higher Education and Training, Mr Buti Manamela, issued an official Notice of Intent to Cancel Registration for certain private higher education institutions. Lyceum College was not included in this notice.
It is important to state clearly that Lyceum College is not part of any deregistration of institutions. No correspondence to deregister Lyceum College has been issued, nor has Lyceum College been instructed to cease operations.
Clarification on Fake and Misleading Information
The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has publicly confirmed that a social media post claiming that Lyceum College has been deregistered originated from a fake page falsely presenting itself as the DBE.
The DBE has officially distanced itself from this post and urged the public to remain vigilant against fraudulent pages and misinformation. All official Departmental and Ministerial announcements are communicated only through verified government platforms.
New Ownership and Institutional Stability
Lyceum College also wishes to confirm that the institution is under new ownership, which has strengthened governance, compliance, and operational oversight.
